When to use
The Flight Details component is most helpful in the following scenarios:
- Booking Confirmation Pages & Payment page: When users have just booked or will book a flight and need to review the details of their upcoming journey.
- Flight list Pages: To provide a comprehensive overview of all flight segments, layovers, and services offered during the journey.
- MyTrip: To allow users to view their flight information in one place, including flight duration, departure and arrival times, and onboard services before and after check-in.
- Email Confirmations: Useful in email templates where users receive a summary of their flight itinerary.
When not to use
This component may not be the best choice in minimalist or overview Interfaces: For pages or apps that focus on displaying only essential information, a simplified version of the component or just key details might be better.
Behavior
- Flight Segments: The component displays individual flight segments, each showing the departure and arrival airports, flight duration, and layover details if any.
- Onboard Services: This section can showcase images and descriptions of the services offered onboard, like meals, entertainment, and other amenities.
- Transfer Information: If the flight requires airport changes or significant layover time, the component highlights these details prominently to ensure the user is well-informed.
- Customization: Depending on the airline or travel service, the component might have different settings to include additional information like baggage allowance, seat selection, or special instructions.
Placement
- Payment page: This component is placed in the ‘View trip details’ pop-up window, just before the user pays for the booking, so that they can quickly consult the details of their flight.
- Flight list: This component is placed in the ‘Details’ pop-up window of each flight, so that users can quickly consult the details of each flight to compare them.
- Email Templates: In emails, ensure the component is placed near the beginning of the message, following any greeting or confirmation statements. It should be clearly visible without requiring much scrolling.
